Introducing the Alaria Tech weld-in trans tunnel "topper" for BMW E36 chassis.   We decided against an entire tunnel for this application like we use in the s-chassis for a couple reasons after speaking with numerous builders and analyzing the car ourselves. The BMW tunnels are big to begin with and in most cases, even with fab skills at their disposal, folks are not making them any bigger. The tunnels have some strengthening ribs that wrap around the firewall and into the tunnel opening. These are something we did not want to interfere with; in most cases simply raising or widening the top of the tunnel where the shifter is, is all that is needed. We decided to carry that height forward and raise the tunnel opening some to make it easier to run plumbing and access bell housing bolts also. The final product will look similar to this prototype. Like our other trans tunnels, installation is made very easy thanks to simple instructions and an excellent fitting part.

These are designed to weld on top of the existing transmission tunnel to allow room for aftermarket gearboxes (Gforce GSR, etc.) and allow more space to route plumbing and easier access to bell housing bolts.  These require you to use the new part as a template to cut out the OEM tunnel and then weld this in yourself.  The shifter hole and surround will be left up to you based on size and location. We normally build a separate removable piece that holds a shift boot.
